RadCCORE Program Areas

The research projects within RadCCORE are divided into four main Program areas.  Program 1 will develop diagnotic assays for rapid and effective biodosimetry based on optically stimulated luminescence and gene expression arrays.  Program 2 will develop novel, safe, and effective drugs and candidate molecules for mitigation of radiation injury.  Program 3 will develop therapies to treat acute radiation syndrome.  Program 4 will develop methods to modulate innate and adaptive immunity in response to radiation exposure.

Program 1 Biodosimetry

Project 1 - Post Exposure Injury Assessment Tools

Project 2 -  A Molecular Signature of Radiation Injury

Program 2 - Normal Tissue Injury

Project 3 - Somatostatin Analogues as Countermeasures Against Intestinal Radiation Toxicity

Project 4 - Radiation Protection with SOD Mimetics

Program 3 - Hematopoiesis

Project 5 - Human Growth Hormone for Radiation Exposure

    Project 6 - Hematopoietic Repair

Project 7 - Endothelial Cell Factors Mediate the Repair of the Irradiated Hematopoietic Compartment

Program 4 - Innate and Adaptive Immunity

Project 8 - Inflammation and Radiation-Induced Lung Injury
