The Radiation Countermeasures Center of Research Excellence (RadCCORE) is an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional organization made up of academic institutions (Duke University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Wake Forest University) and a national laboratory (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) as well as affiliate institutions (Harvard University, Yale University and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) and a number of biotech and pharmaceutical firms. Thus RadCCORE is a complex organization that requires a well-organized, and efficient Administrative Core to ensure its success.

Specific Aims of the Administrative Core:
1. To manage, coordinate and supervise all of RadCCORE activities, including monitoring progress in scientific project timelines, core activities, and educational programs, and ensuring that the RadCCORE strategic plan is executed. This includes ensuring that appropriate systems are in place to provide support for all the programs as well to ensure that RadCCORE institutions are in compliance with US laws and regulations at both federal and state levels and DHHS and NIH policies regarding RadCCORE research and activities.

2. To organize a monthly teleconference of the RadCCORE Steering Committee members, to help organize meetings of RadCCORE programs, and to ensure communication among all RadCCORE members via the RadCCORE website. This core will also be responsible for the maintenance of the website, email, phone and mail contacts, and the RadCCORE annual meeting.

3. To oversee the RadCCORE Developmental Projects and Education Programs, including web based educational modules and ensure that new technology, new science and new investigators are recruited to radiation biology to expand the scope and range of research, investigators, and institutions involved in radiation countermeasures research.

4. To ensure that RadCCORE resources, investigators and cores are available to government, industry and investigators during the time of a national emergency.
